Emotional Imagery Therapy (EIT) – a modern short-term method aimed at changing a person's basic chronic emotional state. The central focus of work is the search for the basic psychodynamic conflict in the unconscious, followed by analysis and transformation of the state.
The main idea of the method is that an emotional state can be expressed through an image. Inner work on the image allows transforming a negative state into a positive one, and importantly, solidifying the changed state.
The work occurs through spontaneous images: visual, auditory, kinesthetic. The unconscious communicates with a person's consciousness in the language of images, providing hints.
An image — is a feeling that has taken shape. For example, during a consultation, one might encounter images of devils, black holes, volcanoes, and more.
But there is no mysticism here. Upon detailed examination, a little devil may turn out to be an unbearable child whom his adult relatives could not tolerate. A black hole could be a once accepted message: "do not live!", and a volcano — an image of anger.
